In this episode, host, Celeste Rains-Turk sits down with 22
year old business owner of Pro Body Sports Therapy in Denver who
started her journey at 170 pounds and 37% body fat, decided to make
some changes and did her first competition in 2017 and turned pro
one year later. She is also a wife, puppy mom, online coach and
fitness model, Jimi Marley.
Tune in to hear about how Jimi went from a binge and purge
lifestyle for weightloss to heavy lifting, food loving, IFBB pro.
After being bullied in high school her motivation to lose weight
was extrinsic but in this interview we hear what she does daily to
center her mindset into more intrinsic motivations.
Jimi opens up about how she had to pull out of a show she was
committed to doing and why it was more important for her to do that
than push through the physical and mental challenge that was
presented.
Jimi also talks about how shifting her perspective on food has
helped her to overcome the binging post show. As she enters into a
long off season for the first time Jimi reflects on what helped her
to grow and succeed so much as an amateur all the way through to
the pro stage. We even dabble with the thought of her competing in
the upcoming wellness division.
We talk about what it is like to own a business at a young age and
how she got where she is now. Jimi and I discuss why taking time
away from work is the best way to generate new ideas and how she
has been able to find her own balance.
Jimi tells us her story of fighting for her life at only 10 years
old and what she went through being told she was going to die,
having to tell her parents goodbye, and fighting more battles than
she ever thought she was in for.
She tells us the importance of self-belief, not selling ourselves
short, and the importance of continuously showing up regardless of
the outcomes.
