In this episode, host Celeste Rains-Turk has a fun, deep, and
really raw conversation with Calysta Upperman, a nurse, online
coach, and owner of Upplift training who has been competing since
2015, and earned her pro card at NPC Universe in 2018.
Tune into this episode to hear some of the most grueling parts
of Calysta's current prep and all the times she wanted to quit.
From moving house, dealing with loads of stress, and having to
fight back from eating like an asshole after her last show and what
failing to reverse diet taught her.
Listen as Calysta opens up about some of the painful things she
rarely talks about that has helped her to see that there is so much
more to life than bodybuilding and the pains of bodybuilding don't
stack up to other pains in this world, and how she has stopped
giving a fuck about what other people think of her and has paved
her own way because of it.
Calysta talks to us about what the process to becoming a pro was
like for her after winning an overall at a regional show to then
placing dead last and not even placing at all at more national
shows to finally get third and then onto an Overall Win at
Universe.
We even get into weird things and things like what it is like for
her being a coach while she preps others, working long hours as a
nurse, not bullshitting people when they ask questions, and why she
relies mostly on whole foods and stays away from whey protein
products.
She tells us what she wants to be known for in this life and gives
some incredible advice that is sure to light a fire in you
everytime you hear it.
